Written Comments on Writing Assignments

** Attention **

The current wait time for eTutoring writing feedback is under 12 hours.

Submit your paper well before it is due to get feedback in time, or visit a Live Zoom writing tutor

Please note the waiting time length changes often, and that you can see the most updated wait time by logging in to eTutoring and finding the Writing Lab.

Want to make sure your essay's organization makes sense? Need help with your quotations and citations? If you want to receive written feedback on your writing, eTutoring is the place to go. (If you want to chat live with a tutor about your writing, try Ask a Tutor: Live instead.)

When you sign in to eTutoring, click on the Online Writing Lab to submit your paper draft. Pay attention to the expected wait time--eTutoring responses can generally take between 24-48 hours to receive, sometimes much shorter and sometimes much longer, depending on how busy they are. It's a good idea to plan ahead and submit a draft well before it is due to your teacher so that you can incorporate the feedback your tutor gives you.

When your paper has been responded to by an eTutor, you will receive an email to your EdMail telling you that the response is ready and that you must log back into eTutoring to see the response. Please check your EdMail regularly to make sure you see this email!

You will receive a thorough written response from a tutor, highlighting strengths of your paper, making a list of next steps to take, and providing suggestions and things to think about as you revise.

See a brief photo-tutorial about how to access the Writing Lab and view a tutor's response to your paper.

Help With Personal Statements

The best place to get help on the personal statements you need to write when you apply to a different university or college is eTutoring! Their tutors are trained to help with personal statements, and their platform allows you to resubmit the same assignment for help up to 3 times. You will want to take advantage of that, as working on a personal statement usually requires a lot of revision and asking for new feedback. All of the same information about about getting written comments on assignments applies--please read that section before logging into eTutoring using the button lower on this page!

Live Chat Tutoring for Many Subjects

You can get live-chat tutoring help for subjects like math, accounting, computer science,  chemistry, biology, economics, and more (see the full list below) using eTutoring. They offer live video chat help for many subjects that we do not have live chat tutoring for this quarter, at many different hours of the day. If you don't see your class listed for Ask a Tutor: Live, then check out eTutoring to see if you can get live chat tutoring help there.

The main difference between eTutoring and the other options we have available for you is that every version of Ask a Tutor is staffed by Learning Support Center tutors, many of whom you have worked with before in person. eTutoring is staffed by tutors from many different educational institutions around the region.
